About Oaxaca (Wa-ha-ka)

From tropical Pacific coast to towering sierra, Oaxaca's geography is as varied as its Indigenous peoples. The state of Oaxaca is in southern Mexico and the capitol city, Oaxaca is a two hour flight from Houston, Texas or a six hour bus ride from Mexico City.

Oaxaca City is nestled in a valley a mile above sea level with a temperate climate and surrounded by indigenous cultures. This colonial city, rich in color, cuisine, and culture has been inhabited by humans for more than one thousand years, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Oaxaca City combines modern amenities with ancient cultures and gorgeous scenery.
